The unfair trial

“woman being born
from the rib of Adam
(which is curved in shape)
has a defective physical structure
therefore her character also
cannot but be imperfect.”

This was the infamous premise on which the two Dominican inquisitors, Jacob Sprenger
and Heinrich Kramer, drafted the Malleus Maleficarum (Witches’ Hammer).
The text established the indissoluble link between witchcraft and the female sex.
The Malleus is a learned, pedantic, fierce document of obsessive and fanatical misogyny.
This text was the basis for the inquisitors in the witch trials held until 1600.

THE POWER OF THE INQUISITOR WAS ABSOLUTE, THE GUILT
OF THE ACCUSED INDISPUTABLE, HER DEFENCE IMPOSSIBLE.

It is the staging of an unfair trial like those against witches.
An unlikely friar, is in search of a witch to be redeemed.
By dint of his search, he meets a young, slightly drunk maiden: “Here is the Demon Witch!”
Swiftly the friar gets into the part of the inquisitor by staging an unfair, ridiculous, comical trial…
